Wold Trona Co., Inc (WTCI) controls a large trona
(natural soda ash) resource in the Green River Basin, Wyoming. WTCI
has been active for over ten years in process research to develop
lower cost methods for mining and processing of trona to soda ash.
It's recent work has been in solution mining of trona.
Currently, four operators in the Green River
Basin supply 90% of the U.S. and 30% of the world's soda ash. The
WTCI resource position is unique. It has over ten stacked beds of
minable trona which are thick and high purity, giving WTCI the
highest tonnage per acre reserve of the operators in the Basin. The
WTCI resource position controls over 2.7 billion tons of minable
trona.
These thick stacked beds are particularly
amendable to horizontal well solution mining. The technology allows
low-cost, efficient extraction of the trona without manned
underground workings. WTCI's process reduces overall cost of soda
ash production by about $20 per ton.
WTCI has engaged Agapito Associates of Grand
Junction, CO., and Kvaener E&C of San Ramon, CA, world-recognized
experts, to evaluate the WTCI holdings for a solution mine project.
They have concluded that the WTCI resources are optimum for solution
mining, providing significant cost advantages.
WTCI is currently seeking industry partners for a
Pilot Plant and subsequent Commercial operation. This project
promises to be the lowest cost producer of high quality soda ash in
the world.
